A bit about me

Fiona - posing confidently - arms wide open, big smile, in a garden

I’ve been part of the fitness world since 1986 – long enough to witness every fad and phase, and long enough to know what truly lasts.

My journey has taken me from owning studios to founding a nationally accredited training provider in Scotland, training over 350 Pilates instructors and fitness professionals, and delivering more than 12,000 hours of teacher training alongside decades of hands-on experience with real clients.

I’ve also mentored fellow fitness professionals who wanted a clearer, more thoughtful approach to movement – one that prioritises understanding over simply following along.

Today, I’m focusing on a different kind of reach.

The women I love working with most?

My favourite people to work with live in real bodies – ones that have been through surgery, stiffness, wear and tear, and the kind of changes that nobody really prepares you for.

I’m particularly drawn to women who’ve had a hip replacement and find themselves in that uncertain middle ground – surgery done, physio finished, but not quite feeling strong, steady or confident yet.

That stage matters more than most people realise. Strength, balance and confidence don’t return automatically after surgery. They’re rebuilt -gently, gradually, and with the right kind of guidance.

That belief is what led me to create BRIO! – my online Mobility & Movement Hub for women age 50 and beyond.

What makes my approach different

I don’t believe in pushing harder or doing more for the sake of it.

I’m also wise enough to know that this approach does not get results.

I believe in understanding your body – knowing why you’re doing something, feeling it work, and building from there.

Over four decades of teaching, I’ve learned that when movement is explained clearly and built step by step, people don’t just get fitter. They get confident. They start to trust their bodies again.

That’s what BRIO! is built around.

“Fiona has the uncanny ability to spot where the body may be in stress and how to help the person resolve it… Many people have Aha! moments when they work with her — and they may never see the body in the same light again.”

– Dr Jane Jamieson

If any of this resonates

BRIO! is a calm, structured space where everything is broken down clearly and you move entirely at your own pace. No pressure, no keeping up, no getting it perfect.

Just thoughtful, well-taught movement – designed for the body you have right now.
